Quick quiz Question 3 of 10

Unless a sign says otherwise, what is the general speed limit on a public road in an urban area?

A. 40 km/h
B. 60 km/h
C. 80 km/h
Correct. In urban areas the general limit is 60 km/h unless a road sign shows a different limit.

Everything you need to walk in ready

Built around how the learner's test actually works, so practice feels like the real thing.

Quick quiz

Ten questions in a few minutes. Perfect for the taxi, the queue or a lunch break.

Full mock tests

Timed tests split into road signs, rules of the road and vehicle controls — scored like the real test.

Daily reminders

Pick a time and we'll nudge you every day. Little and often is how it sticks.

Track your progress

See which sections you're strong in and which need work, so you study what matters.

AI tutor

Stuck? Just ask.

Type any K53 question the way you'd ask a friend. The AI tutor answers in plain language, straight from our study notes on South African road rules — and if the notes don't cover it, it tells you instead of guessing.

  • Answers in seconds, day or night
  • Grounded in South African road rules, not the whole internet
  • Short answers you can read in the queue

The tutor can make mistakes. The road traffic regulations are what count.

Who goes first at a four-way stop?
The vehicle that stopped first moves off first. If two of you stop at the same time, yield to the one on your right.
And if the robot isn't working?
Treat a dead traffic light as a four-way stop.

Questions

Is this the official K53 test?

No. Daily K53 is an independent learning aid and is not affiliated with the RTMC or the Department of Transport. You book and write your learner's test at a licensing centre.

How does the AI tutor work?

Type a question in your own words in the chat once you've done a little practice. The tutor answers only from our study notes on South African road rules, in a few sentences. If the notes don't cover your question, it says so rather than making something up. It can still be wrong, so treat it as a study aid, not legal advice.

Can I use it on WhatsApp?

Yes. Send us a message on WhatsApp and the same quizzes, mock tests and AI tutor work right in the chat. Your phone number is your account, so there's nothing to sign up for. Progress on WhatsApp and in the browser are kept separately; send LINK in either one to join them.

How do I pay?

You don't, yet. Everything is free while we launch. Daily K53 Plus is coming for R20 a month, and we'll explain how to pay here before it starts. Nobody is charged without choosing Plus.

Can I cancel?

There's nothing to cancel today. When Plus starts it will be month to month, with no contract.

Which licence codes does it cover?

Code 2, light motor vehicles such as cars and bakkies. Road signs and the rules of the road are the same for every code. Vehicle-controls questions for code 1 (motorcycles) and code 3 (heavy vehicles) are on the way.

What happens to my data?

We only keep what we need to run your practice. You can delete everything at any time by sending STOP in the chat. Read our privacy notice.
