Who we are
Daily K53 is a free practice tool for the South African learner's licence test.
We are not affiliated with the RTMC or the Department of Transport.
This is a learning aid only. Content may contain errors — send REPORT in the chat
straight after a question you think is wrong.
What we store
- Your channel identifier — a random ID in a cookie on the web, or your phone number if you use WhatsApp.
- Your email address, only if you choose to save your progress. We use it to send you a 6-digit code and to recognise you on another device. We never email you anything else, and there is no password to forget.
- Your language preference, and which language you asked for if it isn’t available yet.
- The answers you give, which question they were for, and when.
- Your quiz and test scores.
- Whether you asked for a daily reminder, and at what time.
- The licence code you are studying for, your test date if you give us one, and — if you tell us — how the test went. We use that, without your name, to check whether our "would you pass today?" estimate is accurate.
- If you arrived through a link or QR code from a driving school, the short tag on that link — so the school can see how many learners it sent, never who they are.
- Questions you report as wrong, and anything you type to say why.
Questions you type to the tutor. We do not keep what you ask. The one exception: if our notes could not answer it, we keep the question text — with anything that looks like an email address or phone number removed, and with no link to you — for 30 days, so we can add that topic to the notes.
Offline practice. On the web, this browser keeps a set of practice questions and any answers you give while offline, so you can practise without data. Those answers are sent to us when you reconnect. Clearing your browser data removes them.
We do not ask for your name or ID number, and we never sell your data. Giving us an email address is optional — everything works without one, you just lose your progress if you switch browser or device.
Why we store it
To show your progress, to pick questions in the areas you get wrong most often, and to send the daily reminder if you asked for one — less often if you stop answering them, and not at all once your test date has passed. On WhatsApp we may message you once, the day after your test date, to ask how it went. We also count anonymous totals — how many quizzes are finished, which questions are missed most — to improve the question bank.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it, or after 12 months of inactivity, whichever comes first. If you only ever used the web chat, never finished a quiz and never saved your progress, we delete everything after 30 days without a visit.
Deleting your data
Send STOP in the chat. We ask you to confirm, then permanently delete your identity,
your email address, any half-finished sign-up, your answers and your scores. Anonymous counts
remain, with no link back to you, and so do question reports — the question stays flagged,
but not who flagged it.
